About The Event
The Artists
Pat Low
The Art & Craft certificate Course at the Elizabeth TAFE College was the beginning of Pat’s art journey.
She completed this Majoring in Ceramics, then joined the Elizabeth Potters Club and for the next 20
years making and selling pottery became her part time occupation.
Pat then discovered Para West Adult Campus and studied many art subjects leading to Year 12 Practical. Pat subsequently joined the
Gawler art Society and is still a very active member of that group, working mainly with watercolour and acrylics and is an original member of the Gawler Pastel Artists.
Art Textiles, Quilting and Mosaics are other interests pursued by Pat.
In 2009 Pat was thrilled to be chosen by the Council of the Aging as South Australia’s “Every Generation Artist”
Kerrie Barrett is a self-taught artist working mainly in Oils and Pastels; however all other mediums are
frequently used. Kerrie has always had an interest in drawing like most young children, however, it was
not until the eighties in Blackwater Queensland and a chance meeting with Eric Minchin (Brushman of
the Bush fame) that she began to paint and was encouraged to do so by Eric. Kerrie was a founding
member of the Blackwater Art Gallery in Qld.
Kerrie has always loved the Australian bush having grown up in the Southern Blue Mountains and has
travelled extensively throughout Australia and Overseas. The stark light and vivid colours are constantly
changing according to Australia’s unique geography. Now living in South Australia where wealth of
painting opportunities presents themselves, from the Flinders Ranges and Outback to the Coastal
regions, Kerrie is enjoying this multi-faceted hobby.
Since retirement in 2009 Kerrie has been able to pursue her art. Kerrie is a member of the Gawler
Gallery, the Gawler Art Society and a Founding Member and Past Convenor of the Gawler Pastel Artist
Kerrie has exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in three states and has several works in overseas
collections.
Ellen Steyne attended the then “Bendigo School of Mines Art Degree” in the 60’s for four years. Employed by
Myer Bendigo doing Window Dressing and Advertising, including on Television. Art took a back seat
while bringing up children, started again when she moved to Yorke Peninsular. Taught at the local
Minlaton Gallery and taught local Art Classes during school holidays.
Ellen moved to Gawler and joined the Gawler Gallery when she changed to painting mainly animals as
there were so many wonderful Landscape painters.
Ellen has been involved in the Gawler Art Society, Gawler Gallery and Pastel Group for many years as
one of the original members. Ellen also is involved with the Gawler Show Society as Convenor of the
Painting Section and thinks It is wonderful to see all the talented array of art works from all ages at the
Show.
Ellen loves being involved with so many Art groups and talented people and has had many exhibitions
and sales of her incredible work in two states.
