Members' Exhibition

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

​

The theme is open, and the following mediums are accepted.

  • Painting & drawing - all mediums are accepted.

  • Photography.

  • Lino prints.

  • Mixed Media (Fine Art) Collage, combined materials.

  • Sculpture & 3D Fine Art Ceramics, metal, glass, & other fine art sculptural materials.

  • Textile Art (Fine Art Focus) textile works intended as visual art, able to be hung.

Note

Craft‑based items (e.g., decorative objects, functional craft, hobby craft, or commercially patterned textile work) are not included in this exhibition.

 

1. Membership

Entrants must be financial members of Gawler Community Gallery, and residents of South Australia.

2. Number of Entries

A maximum of two entries per member. Acceptance of both works is at the discretion of the committee.

3. Artwork Requirements

  • Artworks must be your original work and no more than 1 metre wide including the frame.

  • Diptychs and triptychs must have a combined width under 1 metre and must be sold as one work.

  • Artworks must be dry, professionally presented, framed or mounted, and ready to hang.

  • Generous sized D-rings must be attached in the top third of the frame or stretched canvas.

  • Frames and glass must be clean and undamaged.

  • Artworks not meeting these requirements will not be accepted.

4. Identification Labels

Artist name, title, medium, and price must be written on the back of the artwork, either directly onto the artwork, or on a label attached to the artwork. Labels are available in the gallery office (plastic box labelled LABELS) or downloadable from the gallery website.

5. Subject Matter & Suitability

The subject must not be offensive to the general public. The committee reserves the right to refuse any work considered offensive or unsuitable. If a work is not approved, the artist will be notified and the entry fee refunded.

6. Insurance & Liability

Artists are responsible for insuring their work during transit and display. The gallery accepts no responsibility for loss or damage.

7. GST

GST, if applicable, is the responsibility of the artist.

​

8. Presentation Standards

The committee may reject works deemed unsuitable in presentation, content, or framing. Entry fees will be refunded if a work is rejected.

ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS

9. Refund Policy for Withdrawals

 Entry fees are non‑refundable if an artist withdraws after submitting their entry form.

​

10. No Substitutions

Once the entry form has been submitted, artworks cannot be substituted with different works.

​

11. No Price Changes After Drop off

Prices cannot be changed once the artwork has been dropped off at the gallery.

12. Committee Determines Placement

The committee reserves the right to determine the placement of artworks within the gallery.

13. Late Delivery Policy

Late deliveries may not be accepted due to hanging schedules. Artists must contact the gallery in advance if they cannot deliver during the designated delivery window.

14. Ready‑to‑Hang Clarification

“Ready to hang” means:

  • No string, wire, sawtooth hangers, or clip frames. (Frames purchased from Big W and similar generally won’t have suitable hanging)

  • D-rings must be securely attached in the top third of the frame or canvas.

  • Stretched unframed canvases must be “gallery wrapped’ This means that the canvas is neatly wrapped around the sides, fully painted on the edges, with no visible staples on the sides, and suitable for hanging without a frame.

  • Photographs may be mounted on foam board (foam core) for exhibition, provided the board is rigid, neatly finished, and fitted with D‑rings on the back for hanging. They many also be framed if preferred.

  • Works not meeting these standards will not be accepted.

15. Wet Paint / Varnish Rule

All artworks must be completely dry, including varnish. Wet or tacky works will be refused.

16. Notification of Sales

Artists will be notified shortly before pick‑up day if their artwork has sold.

​

Forms must be submitted by midnight Saturday the 22nd of August via:

  

18. Volunteer Requirement

All exhibiting members must volunteer for at least two rostered gallery attendant sessions during the exhibition period or arrange a substitute.

19. Entry Fees

$10 per artwork entry.

​

20. Drop off of Artworks

Artworks must be delivered on Sunday the 30th of August between 11am to 1pm. If you cannot deliver at this time, please contact the gallery to arrange an alternative at least 48 hours before the drop off date.

IMPORTANT Please remove all packaging and take the packaging with you after drop-off your artworks, thank you.

21. Pickup of Artworks

Pick up is on the 11th of Oct between 11am and 1pm. No artwork may be collected before the exhibition ends. Uncollected artworks after six weeks may be responsibly disposed of if the artist cannot be contacted.

22. All Artworks Must Be for Sale

All artworks entered in the exhibition must be for sale. Sale price must be inclusive of commission.

​

23. Commission Structure

  • 25% commission.

Interstate/overseas visitors may take purchased works immediately if leaving before the exhibition ends.

24. Transport Advice

Place paintings back-to-back when transporting to avoid scratches.
